Sleep (Android only)
Fishbowl can allow your device to turn off the screen for certain hours of the day. This is useful if, for example, you would like the device to only be on during work hours.
The requirements for enabling this setting on a tablet are the following:
- The device must be an Android. Unfortunately, this setting is not compatible with iOS or Amazon devices.
- The lock screen on the device must be disabled: when you wake the device by pressing the power button, no lock screen should be shown (not even swipe to unlock). On most Android devices, this can be found at
Settings > Screen lock > None. Some device manufacturers enforce a screen lock, which will block Fishbowl from automatically starting up again, and are therefore not compatible with Sleep. - The device must have a screen-timeout enabled: if there is no interaction, the device should switch off its screen. On most Android devices, this can be set in
Settings > Display > Screen timeout. A timeout of 30 seconds is typically sufficient.
Important: While Fishbowl is open, it will keep the screen active, and the screen will only switch off when Fishbowl stops keeping the screen active (e.g. during sleep), or if you exit Fishbowl.
After ensuring that the above requirements are met, sleep settings can be configured on the device from either the web portal or on the device itself.
