Google Workspace Configuration

Fishbowl integrates directly with your Google Workspace Calendar resources.

There are two ways to connect Fishbowl to Google Workspace:

  • Service Account (Application Credentials). Use a Google Cloud service account with domain-wide delegation. Credentials are entered once during linking and shared across all your devices. No interactive sign-in is required on the device. This is the recommended method.

  • OAuth (Sign in on Device). Sign in interactively with a Google account on each device. The device uses delegated permissions granted to the signed-in user.

Both methods require Calendar resources in Google Workspace. If you haven't set them up yet, follow the steps below before proceeding to either method.

Note: When signing in with a Google account in Fishbowl for Android (OAuth method), this account is automatically linked to Gmail and other Google apps on the tablet. If this is a security risk in your organization, then please use the Service Account method, create a separate Google account for this purpose, install an appropriate Android kiosking app to prevent access to these apps, or use iPads instead.

Create resources for every meeting room

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin Console
  2. Click Apps > Google Workspace > Calendar Google Admin Console Menu
  3. Click on Resources.
  4. Click on + Add new resource.

Note: A Meeting space resource needs to be linked to a building. If the meeting space category is disabled (not selectable), then you need to first create a building. To do this, click on Manage Buildings and follow the prompts.

  1. Enter the room's details, and click on Add Resource
