Privacy Policy

We process personal data in accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the Protection of Personal Information (“POPI”) Act of South Africa. This Privacy Policy covers the collection, use and disclosure of information that may be collected any time you interact with the Fishbowl Meetings Service (“Fishbowl”), e.g. when you visit our web site, use our Android or iOS app, or communicate with Fishbowl support. Fishbowl undertakes all common and reasonable precautions to protect user information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This Privacy Policy amends and supplements our Terms of Service.

Personal Information

No personal information is collected by the Service. The names and e-mail addresses of meeting attendees remain on the device only and is not stored elsewhere by the Service.

When paying via credit card, the cardholder's name, country, and other payment information may be collected and stored by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com. Fishbowl associates a country with your account during this process for VAT reporting purposes in South Africa. None of the information that Fishbowl collects will be shared with third parties, unless you have explicitly agreed to it, or if Fishbowl is required to do so by law.

Calendar and Event Information

No calendar data is sent to or stored on our servers, and all events data remains on the Android or iOS device that the Fishbowl app is installed on. All communication between devices and 3rd party calendar providers occur via their specific APIs (Google Calendar API, Microsoft Exchange Web Services, Microsoft Graph API and Teamup REST API) and all event information is stored and processed on the tablet/device running Fishbowl. More information about how Fishbowl interacts with Calendar providers is provided in Addendum A.

Other (non-personal) Information

Fishbowl collects your company contact details (specifically your company email address and company name) during the signup process (via app or website). Fishbowl collects and stores license and device-specific information (such as device ID, device type, manufacturer operating system type, app version) in order to manage user licenses and provide basic account management features to Fishbowl users. We also store the resource IDs that are linked to specific licenses.

Automatically-Captured Information

Fishbowl collects non-personal log information for the purposes of monitoring, debugging, and improving the Service. Fishbowl also makes use of third party software provided by Firebase Crashlytics to aid in better handling app crashes. We also have an automated notification system configured that utilizes the services of PaperTrail and Slack to allow us to respond quickly to crashes on the Fishbowl web platform. The Fishbowl web platform also makes use of “cookies” in order to provide its Service. A complete list of third party software that is used by Fishbowl can be found in Addendum A. None of the logging data is shared with third parties unless Fishbowl is required to do so by law.

User Communications

Fishbowl collects and archives email, data entered into web forms, and any other communication you send to Fishbowl for the purpose of processing and answering your requests and improving Fishbowl’s Service. Fishbowl will not share any user communication with third parties.

Right to be Forgotten

Fishbowl users may request a copy of all their data, and they may also request that we remove all their data permanently from the Fishbowl service. Fishbowl users may send such requests to [email protected], and requests will be fulfilled within three business days. Fishbowl users with access to fishbowlmeetings.com may also delete their own profiles by navigating to "My Account" > "Profile" > "Delete Account" and clicking on the "Delete" button; however, please note that this operation cannot be undone. The Fishbowl app can be removed permanently from Android and iOS devices; however, we do not control which information the operating systems may retain after uninstallation.

Location of Data

Fishbowl data is stored in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and off-site backups in Frankfurt (Germany)

Payment information

All Fishbowl credit card payments are handled via Paddle.com. No payment information is stored on Fishbowl servers, and no card numbers and other confidential payment information are visible to Fishbowl employees. The last four digits of your card may be displayed to you to help you to identify a specific card.

Changes to this Policy

Fishbowl reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Policy. The latest version of this Privacy Policy is always available at https://www.fishbowlmeetings.com/privacy.
